Personal Context Location is a private iPhone utility that sends location updates to a personal server chosen and controlled by the app’s user. It is not an advertising, analytics, or social-location service.
When location export is enabled, the app handles:
The app does not access contacts, photos, messages, payment information, health data, or advertising identifiers.
Location data is used only to deliver the user’s requested location reports to that user’s configured Personal Context server. The app has no developer-operated location backend, analytics SDK, advertising SDK, crash-reporting SDK, or third-party tracking service. Location data is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with data brokers.
The app can send reports while it is in the background only after the user explicitly enables background export and grants the corresponding iOS location permission. The app shows whether reporting is enabled and lets the user disable it.
The private upload credential is stored in the iOS Keychain. Non-secret settings and redacted delivery status may be stored on the device. Pending reports are kept in a bounded, protected on-device queue only to survive temporary delivery failures; they are deleted after successful delivery or when they exceed the queue’s retention limits.
Delivered reports are retained by the user’s own Personal Context server according to that server’s configured limits. The server is not operated as a public service by the app developer.
Public endpoints must use HTTPS. The app may also use an HTTP endpoint on a private local or WireGuard network. Reports require a dedicated credential. Credentials and precise coordinates are not written to app logs.
No method of storage or transmission can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect access to their iPhone, private server, VPN, and credentials.
The user can stop reporting at any time, remove the app’s stored credential, revoke location permission in iOS Settings, and delete the app. Pending reports are removed after successful delivery, when they exceed the queue’s retention limits, or when the app is deleted. Delivered reports can be deleted from the user’s own Personal Context server or by deleting its local database.
The app is a private personal utility and is not directed to children under 13.
